Betsy Ross

Do you want to read about someone who changed America? Then you should read Betsy Ross, in the series In Their Own Words written by Peter and Connie Roop.

Betsy Ross made a big roll in America’s history because she made the American flag. Did you know that Betsy Ross got married three times? She married John Ross, Joseph Ashburn, and John Claypoole. That meant she had four last names including her madden name Griscom. During her life time there was lots of war going on in Philadelphia, where she lived. She lived on Arch Street in a small shop. Upstairs was her home, and down stairs was where she had an upholstery shop. She started the upholstery with John Ross. After marrying three times she ended up having a big family like her own.

I think you should read this book because it’s a great biography of Betsy Ross and it has really cool facts that you may have never known about her before. I also recommend it because it tells a lot about how she was picked to make the American flag.

I recommend this book for ages eight and up. This book is good for people that want to know more about something’s that went on in America’s history that made America what it is today. I really think you should read this book. So pick this Betsy Ross up at your local library or book store today!
