Madame Celequer of Wade House

Good morning! I am Madame Celequer, however you can just call me Isabella for short. Me and my family moved to Greenbush, Wisconsin from Paris, France. My daughters, Gabriella and Cella came along on the journey as well as my husband, Jacques. When we had first seen the Wade House it was still quite young. Me and my daughters were awed by it’s beauty. Well, come along now there is so much to see and so little time.

Now, in the Ladies’ Parlor there is not so much to see, however you can make many friends there. When I come down here I usually read my letters and books from France. Also I sometimes chat with my French friends. Other ladies though sometimes do sewing and rest quite a bit. There is a wood-burning stove to keep us all warm and some candles and oil lamps for light. I find the couch quite comfy although the chairs are very hard. There is also a Children’s Parlor where Gabriella and Cella like to play. Whenever they come back from there they are always very happy.

My husband Jacques always says the Barroom is the place he likes the most. When he is  not working at the Sawmill, he loves to do some gambling and play the game “chess”
