The Carbon Dioxide Experiment
Reported by David, Betsy, and Eve
Our experiment in science was to prove that fish exhale carbon dioxide.
We did this by placing a goldfish in a cup of water, then we added BTB which indicates carbon dioxide.
BTB starts as a shade of blue. When BTB interacts with carbon dioxide, it turns to a shade of yellow, depending on how much BTB was put in the water.
After about an hour, we looked at the cup with BTB, water, and the goldfish. Believe it or not, our experiment worked! The water was now a bright yellow!

A reminder about Friday’s field trip to Riveredge -
We leave the traditional classroom at 8:15 this Friday to let nature be
our teacher. The field trip’s focus is Pond Interactions. Students will
learn about the interdependence of all living things in an ecosystem by
observing and gathering samples in a pond.
Play clothes and old shoes are appropriate because the field trip is
outdoors and by a pond.
Please pack a disposable lunch, a snack and two drinks. The children
will be eating lunch at the Nature Center.
The trip goes on rain or shine!!
